Counselling

The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out. Proverbs 20:25

With several years of hands-on experience in community-based support and mentorship, and holding a Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling Major), I bring both practical and theoretical depth to my work with men.

Alongside my counselling training, I have also led a men’s discipleship house, providing pastoral care, mentorship, and guidance within the house and across other ministry settings. These experiences have shaped the way I walk alongside men as they grow in character, discipline, emotional health, and purpose.

My Approach

My approach to counselling is deeply inspired by the person of Jesus Christ, the Wonderful Counsellor, and by a biblical understanding of how people grow, heal, and flourish. I seek to walk alongside others with the same posture Jesus models — one of compassion, truth, wisdom, and genuine care.

Within my counselling training, I have also been shaped by several well-established therapeutic traditions that emphasise the importance of authentic relationships, personal meaning, and the stories people live by. These approaches have helped form practical tools that support the deeper relational work of walking alongside people.

At the Heart

At the heart of my work is authentic connection and genuine care. This includes:

  • Authenticity — being honest, present, and real in the relationship, creating space for meaningful and genuine conversation.

  • Deep listening and understanding — taking the time to truly understand what someone is experiencing, rather than rushing to solutions or advice.

  • Recognising inherent worth — believing every person is created in the image of God and therefore deserves dignity, respect, and honour.

  • Exploring personal story — helping people reflect on the stories that have shaped their lives, and discovering healthier and more hopeful ways to understand their experiences.

  • Encouraging meaning and purpose — supporting men as they grow in clarity, responsibility, and a sense of direction for their lives.

  • Strength-based growth — identifying the strengths, resilience, and values already present within a person and building upon them.

This approach is highly relational and reflective. Rather than offering quick answers or surface-level solutions, the goal is to walk alongside men as they develop insight, emotional awareness, and a clearer sense of identity and purpose.

My desire is to see men become grounded, emotionally aware, spiritually formed, and able to lead their lives with integrity and vision.
